Ford’s new 5.0L ‘Coyote’ V8 confirmed for 2010…

Ford Australia has confirmed it is staying in the V8 business beyond the life of the current 5.4-litre Boss engine. And the favourite to take over from the ageing Boss is an aluminium double overhead cam 5.0-litre codenamed ‘Coyote’ that is currently under development in the USA with baseline outputs reported to be around 300kW and 540Nm.

According to the details of a patent filing, Ford is working on an Emotive Advisory System (EAS) that simulates emotions when interacting with occupants, and may also use an avatar to express itself. The Escape and Mariner brothers have gained a few new features to REALLY set them apart from the competition. These things include Blind-Spot mirrors, Rear View Cameras (with intergrated LCD display screen), MyKey, Active Park Assist (as featured on the Lincoln MKS) and a new SYNC system featuring new traffic update system, sat-nav and car information.

Mulally expects “major portion” of Fords electric within decade…

Ford to sell Volvo to Renault???

French car maker Renault has held talks with Ford about a possible purchase of Volvo cars, reports Reuters.

The two companies met last autumn to discuss a possible deal, but apparently the talks ended after the parties failed to agree on the value of the Swedish car maker.
