2010 Taurus SHO uncovered!!!

January 20, 2009

Thanks to our friends at BringBackTheSHO.com, we now have more evidence than ever that the SHO will rise again. These spy shots show a pair of serious looking Taurus sedans snapped along the I-75 corridor in Florida. These two sedans are different from the Limited and SES models we saw at the Detroit Auto Show last week, wearing new wheels (at least 19 or 20 inches in diameter), a decklid spoiler, different tail-lights and a new rear bumper that extends lower over a pair of dual tail-pipes.

January 13, 2009

Ford has only just unveiled the new 2010 Taurus and they have already given us a price list on all models (albeit with no options prices – or even what the options are for that matter). So to kick off the range, the SE (base) is $25,995 U.S Dollars – same as the current model. Then, moving up the range, we have the SEL for $27,995 and the Limited (top-of-the-range) for a comparatively cheap $31,995 U.S Dollars. The SEL & Limited can be optioned with the 6-speed paddle-shift for the automatic. Other options like the acclaimed Adaptive Cruise Control, cross-traffic warning system & collision mitigation are still to be priced.

This is the (arguably) last chance for (not just) Ford in the sedan market in the U.S. If the Taurus flops – so does Ford… But it still has other markets open too. For the full rundown on this great sounding car, have a squiz at the AUTOBLOG VEHICLE  PREVIEW.

Next off the line we have the new EcoBoost V6 engine which is debuting in the MY2010 Ford Flex. This new V6 offers turbocharged 6 cylinder performance (with 265kW / 355hp & 475Nm / 350lb-ft on tap) albeit with the fuel consumption of a run-of-the-mill family-car V6 engine – which in the EcoBoost’s case isn’t very much (~22mpg city!)!
