We were a bit disappointed last week when Ford revealed the new 2010 Harley-Davidson edition F-150 factory street truck. It wasn’t the looks that let us down but rather its mild powertrain – the same 320 horsepower (240kW) / 390 pounds-feet of torque (530Nm) 5.4 litre V8 that’s available in the rest of the F-150 lineup.

Come halfway through this season, Ford teams in the NASCAR series will be powered by Ford’s latest racing V8 engine – internally known as the “FR9″. UK is so eagerly awaiting – just like the rest of us – for Ford’s latest pocket rocket – the Focus RS. Luckily for us hot hatch fans, TeamRS – the group behind the Focus RS – knows it too! That’s the reason why they have worked with renowned ROUSH British subsidary – Mountune for a time filling pocket rocket kit for the more ‘discreet’ ST (a.k.a XR5 Turbo).

The Canadian government is handing over to FoMoCo $80 million in a 5 year deal to help secure the automaker in the future market. This money will go towards updating engine facilities at the Essex plant – which currently can only produce V8’s for SUV’s & pick ups – to be more flexible with their powertrain production – to keep up with smaller engine demand.

Motor Trend magazine has reported that the rumoured Fusion GT, which could be powered by a 250+kW EcoBoost V6 & and AWD drivetrain, has been delayed to at least 2012. This is thought to have been created to be a limited production super-Fusion special to be the ‘last hurrah’ to the current platform (before Ford USA switches over to the “EUCD” platform that currently underpins the Mondeo in the near future).

Although not officially confirmed, PickUpTrucks.com has unveiled Ford’s plans for a Ethanol version of Ford’s upcoming EcoBoost engine. Codenamed “Bobcat”, this version of Ford’s new fuel efficient engine should see fuel usage lowered even more from the already acclaimed ‘fuel sipper’ [EcoBoost]. With the ethanol technology, these engines should use around 30% less fuel – while giving more power & torque.
