Ford’s new 5.0L ‘Coyote’ V8 confirmed for 2010…

Ford Australia has confirmed it is staying in the V8 business beyond the life of the current 5.4-litre Boss engine. And the favourite to take over from the ageing Boss is an aluminium double overhead cam 5.0-litre codenamed ‘Coyote’ that is currently under development in the USA with baseline outputs reported to be around 300kW and 540Nm.

Ford does it again!!!

Ford flyers Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup became the first men in 24 years to win a hat-trick of Bathurst 1000 titles with a near-flawless drive at Mount Panorama yesterday (12th October 2008).

The Triple Eight Racing duo equalled the all-time record for successive triumphs, joining motorsport legends Peter Brock, Jim Richards and Larry Perkins on three.

Focus Ute in the works???

As speculated by Toby Hagon over at Drive.com.au, it is possible that a Ford Focus Utility (“Ute”) could be in the works right here in Australia at Ford Australia – to be ready for 2011 production with the rest of the Focus range (excl. ST/XR5). Report after the jump…

FPV turns the big 5 (sorry – no 0!)…

Ford Australia’s renowned tuning arm – Ford Performance Vehicles, or FPV – is celebrating it’s 5th birthday this year & in order to celebrate, FPV has announced that it will build a special model to commemorate this milestone – which is a feat in itself considering the current move away from performance vehicles due rising petrol prices etc. This special model will be revealed at the 2008 AIMS (Australian International Motor Show in Sydney in October.

FG Falcon now with added goodies…

Ford Australia has announced that from September production, the FG Falcon XT will be fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment.

The new 16-inch alloy wheels replace the 16-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers fitted to the FG Falcon XT previously.

2010 Falcon: To FWD or not to FWD…
