Ford Australia has confirmed it is staying in the V8 business beyond the life of the current 5.4-litre Boss engine. And the favourite to take over from the ageing Boss is an aluminium double overhead cam 5.0-litre codenamed ‘Coyote’ that is currently under development in the USA with baseline outputs reported to be around 300kW and 540Nm.

Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) will have a more powerful V8 engine next year, but it will still be locally assembled.
With Euro IV emission controls set to come in on July 1 next year, FPV will finally retire the existing 5.4-litre Boss V8.

The FG-series FPV lineup is quite exciting. You have the usual F6 sedan and ute and the GT / GT-P / GT E sedan and Pursuit / Super Pursuit utes. We even now have the F6X Territory. Now if we go back to the GT range we see the “GT E”. This GT is a step above the rest in the matter of luxury. Sure, it still has the 315kW BOSS V8, but the suspension and interior alike have been ‘luxurised’ for a more smoother ride and handling. Ford has lacked this from the F6 side, so what to do come Melbourne International Motor Show time? I know! Make an F6 E “concept”.

This year, Ford Performance Vehicles, or more simply, FPV, turns 5 years old. And to celebrate this rather modest milestone, FPV has unveiled a commemorative model at the 2008 Australian International Motor Show. Cue in the GT 5th Anniversary…

Ford Australia’s renowned tuning arm – Ford Performance Vehicles, or FPV – is celebrating it’s 5th birthday this year & in order to celebrate, FPV has announced that it will build a special model to commemorate this milestone – which is a feat in itself considering the current move away from performance vehicles due rising petrol prices etc. This special model will be revealed at the 2008 AIMS (Australian International Motor Show in Sydney in October.

WebWombat.com.au has recently finished pitching FPV’s new FG GT-P against HSV’s VE GTS. In recent years, the HSV GTS has been quoted as “being in a class of its own” & “the best ever Aussie Grand Tourer”. I think this review changes these comments…
