New Shelby model details revealed…

News has just come in RE the new Shelby Mustang just mentioned. Here is the official press release with all the info…

Four decades after Shelby and Ford collaborated on a race version of the legendary Mustang, the companies are offering a limited edition track day version of the Ford Shelby GT. Ford Racing and Shelby Automobiles, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International, Inc.  will commemorate the 1965 SCCA championship of Jerry Titus and final production of the current generation Mustang by offering up to 37 total 550 horsepower Shelby GT “R Model.” The 2009 Shelby GT “R Model” will be available for US$134,995. Ford reveals: 4th quarter 2008 losses of $5.9b…

Ford has so far been able to avoid suckling on the teat of the federal
government like its cross-town rivals, but after today’s announcement
of a 2008 fourth-quarter loss of $5.9 billion, serious questions are
beginning to arise about how FoMoCo will fair in 2009.

Rumour: spec. edit. Shelby Mustang for NHRA Winternats unveiling…

We don’t know what it is yet, but according to the folks at InsideLine, Carroll Shelby is preparing to unveil a new special-edition Ford Mustang next week. Rumored to be less powerful than the GT500KR, the limited-run model will make its debut as part of a benefit dinner for a new museum of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), held during the Winternationals.

Ford to sell Volvo… still…

From The Detroit News:

Ford Motor Co., the only U.S. automaker to forgo government loans, will begin seeking buyers for its Volvo luxury brand next month and expects to draw bids from Chinese carmakers, said a person familiar with the plan.
