Volvo S60 Concept debuted 4cyl. Eco Boost engine…January 14, 2009
Remember the Volvo S60 concept that was unveiled at this years NAIAS? Well apparently it debuted Ford new 1.6 litre EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine – which is a pretty impresive engine.
For starters, with a added turbo & direct injection, the small engine can generate around 135kW (180hp) while producing, erm… a ‘sparrow-fart’ amount of C02 – a measly 119g/km – it’w even capable of 47mpg (which equates to 5L/100km!). With the added goodness of automatic start/stop technology, a dual clutch 6-speed gearbox, electric power steering and a grille shutter (that closes off air-flow to radiator when not needed and reduces aerodynamic drag), this “concept” should be a real hoot!
