New ECOnetic Model Lands In Australia…

May 31, 2010

After the success of the introduction of the ECOnetic Fiesta into the Australian market last year, Ford Australia have announced that a second ECOnetic model will join the range from July. No folks, it’s not the Focus… It’s the Transit!

Powered by a 2.2L Duratorq diesel that has been tinkered with for extra mileage, the ECOnetic Transit also sees unique aerodynamic hub caps, low friction oils, low-rolling resistant tyres and a “Green Shift” indicator as premiered in the Fiesta ECOnetic. Power is transfered to the ground via a 6 speed manual transmission.

The numbers speak for themselves – with a combined fuel consumption of 7.2L/100km (down from 8.2L/100km) and the same 655m squared space and a substantial 1172kg payload, the Transit ECOnetic (which is based on the SWB version) is certainly a true workhorse ready for work.

At $36,490 (excl. dealer delivery or on-road costs) and going on sale this July, the Transit ECOnetic is sure to be a small-time tradesman’s dream!
