Report: 2011 F-150 Gets Whole New Powertrain…

July 17, 2010

Currently, you have a selection of, technically speaking, ancient engine options when you go to order your F-150. But, to bring the F-150 inline with Fords’ ‘One Ford’ policy, the 2011 update is getting a whole new smorgasbord of engine choices.

Spy Shot: 2011 F-150 Lariat Limited returns...

The base models all have the 3.7L V6 found in the 2011 Mustang and Edge as standard. Expect around 25 mpg (9l/100km) hwy – better than General Motors’ hybrid trucks! Mid-spec spec models get the 3.5L EcoBoost V6, as seen in the Taurus SHO, producing about 400hp (298kW) and 400lb-ft (542Nm). This will also be the first RWD application of this engine. Atop of the F-150 food chain, there will be the new Coyote V8 which also debuts in the 2011 Mustang. But expect this engine to receive some tuning as to produce more torque to help haul 11,000lb + (5,000kg +).

Spied: 2011 F-150 Lariat Limited

Also for the 2011 F-150, the Lariat Limited model is making a comeback after a four year hiatus. With body coloured bumpers, grille, side mirrors, door handles and what appear to be 19″ or 20″ alloy wheels, the Lariat Limited is taking the spot previously reserved for the Lincoln Mk LT. Expect it to have the EcoBoost V6 as standard…

  1. Actually, those are 22″ wheels on the Lariat Limited. If you are interested in the new F-150 or any other Ford vehicle contact me @ 713-960-9800 and ask for Brandon!

  2. That’s right – these images were taken before any official details were announced, so my uneducated guess was leaning to at least 20″… 😀
