2012 Focus 2.0 Litre Power and MPG Confirmed…

October 22, 2010

Ford have finally announced some technical details regarding the new 2012 Focus – for at least one powertrain anyway. The new base model (‘S’ in the U.S.) will feature a new 2.0 Litre I4 engine that makes a healthy 119kW (160hp) and 198Nm all the while achieving a yet to be EPA tested 40mpg (5.8l/100km). This is, of course, when paired with the PowerShift dual clutch transmission. Those are some pretty awesome numbers right there!

The new 2.0 litre engine is filled with new Ford technologies that makes these impressive figures possible. The engine feature direct-injection and also offers Ford’s twin independent variable camshaft timing (what Ford refers to as Ti-VCT) and is E85 flex fuel capable. E85 represents a fuel blend of 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent organic product-based ethanol.
