2011 Edge / MKX mpg class leaders + configurators online…

Ford has finally received the verdict from the U.S. EPA with the 2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX gaining class-leading mileage. Also, Ford has uploaded the new configurators for both vehicles which can be seen here for the Edge and here for the MKX…

Alas Poor Mercury, For We Knew Him Well…

From day dot, Mercury was considered the first step into getting yourself into a luxury Ford product. Back in 1939 when Edsel Ford introduced the brand, that was totally true. But fly forward 70 years to 2010 and Mercury tells a different story. No longer is the brand as unique as it used to be – with only re-badged grilles and some updated bumpers to tell apart the models from their “cheaper” Ford cousins. But, Ford has announced that due to dwindling sales figures over the past 10 years and only making up about 0.8% of Ford’s current marketshare that the brand must go… in aid of developing Lincoln.

CES 2010: Ford Unveiles MyFord & MyLincoln Touch…

Ford began its MyFord Touch presentation with a simple question: “People line up for iPhones – why not cars?” What is it about certain pieces of technology that makes them a “must have”? And since the iPhone is really just a merger of two things we already have (a cell phone and PC), is it possible to blend something into a car that will get ’em lining up around the block? Quite obviously, Ford’s hoping the answer is yes.

Ford’s new 5.0L ‘Coyote’ V8 confirmed for 2010…

Ford Australia has confirmed it is staying in the V8 business beyond the life of the current 5.4-litre Boss engine. And the favourite to take over from the ageing Boss is an aluminium double overhead cam 5.0-litre codenamed ‘Coyote’ that is currently under development in the USA with baseline outputs reported to be around 300kW and 540Nm.
