Ford and Toyota Partner on Heavy Duty Hybrid System…

Ford and Toyota have today announced their plans be “equal-partners” in the development of a heavy duty RWD hybrid system for full-size SUVs and trucks. This system should see Ford and Toyota meet the 2025 CAFE standards.

2011 Explorer Breaks Surface!!!

This all-new model is Ford’s take on a 21st century SUV, started from a clean slate based on the popular Taurus / Flex platform. Canada passing on $80mill to FoMoCo for new facilities…

The Canadian government is handing over to FoMoCo $80 million in a 5 year deal to help secure the automaker in the future market. This money will go towards updating engine facilities at the Essex plant – which currently can only produce V8’s for SUV’s & pick ups – to be more flexible with their powertrain production – to keep up with smaller engine demand.

Escape / Mariner score 5 star safety rating…

Over in the US of A, Ford has finally announced that the 2008 (marked 2009) Escape / Mercury Mariner have indeed scored a 5 star safety rating in local crash tests.

With the added bonus of a hybrid model and high fuel efficiency from the ‘normal’ models, this makes the Escape a no questions asked pick in the highly competitive SUV market.
